the mind is a battlefield

Our mind can be a battlefield.

We must have a mentality to win, boldly taking control of our inner thoughts. We cannot win through passivity, allowing any thought to swirl through our mind.

This world can be a minefield of worry, stress, fear, and hopelessness. Truth and hope can only be found in the pages of scripture. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6) and only when our minds are centered on Him, can we win the battle of the mind.

One of my favorite scriptures for the mind is 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

For the weapons of our warfare are not [a]carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

What does this mean?

Our thoughts may not be our own. They can come from the following sources including:

  1. self

  2. God

  3. the devil

We must be a thought inspector. When a thought like “There is no hope” or “I can’t do it” or “I’m a failure” comes into our mind, we must ask ourselves, “where did this thought come from and does it line up with scripture”. If the thought does not align with scripture (which means that we must read our Bibles to know what Gods says and what His Voice sounds like), it means the thought is from a broken belief system within us. Or it may be a fiery dart from the devil or one of his agents of evil.

Any thought that does not aligned with scripture must be cast down. Meaning that we consciously disagree with that thought and speak what the Word says instead.

For example, if the thought “I can’t do this” comes into our mind, we must say out of mouth “According to Philippians 4:13 I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me”. If we resist the devil he will flee. If we keep saying the word, we will tear down the negative strongholds in our minds that believe the wrong thing.

Do not accept any thought that is not obedient to Christ. We can do this!
